All in, it features parts from over 21 different Overland Expo exhibitors. The Jeep Farout concept is a diesel Gladiator on 37s with a custom AT Overland Habitat truck camper on the back. In the end, it was my home and transport for over a week. I’m partial to this build, as I was able to take it out for an overland adventure along the North Rim of the Grand Canyon leading up to the show. Overland Expo West 2022: 15 Head-Turning Vehicles Jeep Farout Concept (Photo/Bryon Dorr) Some new, some old, but all being shown at Overland Expo for the first time - as far as we know. I like to bring you the new and interesting, so here are 15 vehicles that caught my eye at the 2022 event. What that meant is that there was a slightly smaller attendance than the September event, and a lot of the same vehicles and gear on display. This year’s Overland Expo West was a bit of an odd one, as it was just 6 months since the last event happened - due to pandemic rescheduling. It takes a lot for a vehicle to catch my eye these days, but the really cool vehicles still get me as excited as ever. Needless to say, I’ve seen just about every type of overland adventuremobile out there. I’ve been to every Overland Expo West since 2012 - and a majority of the other overland expo and rally events across North America over the past decade. It got us by and we figured we would just get food on Friday. Our motors editor and resident overland expert, Bryon Dorr, scoured Overland Expo West 2022 in Flagstaff, Ariz., to find some of the coolest adventure rigs out there. By the time we got camp setup we were out of time to go get food so Mike and I ate some beef jerky and peanuts for supper. Thursday night the camping was good, but the owners of Taylor Ranch decided that nobody could get back in after 7:00 PM. We had a view of the mountains and the port-a-potties were close enough to be convenient, but far enough away to not be bothersome. When we settled down we realized that we picked a great spot. It took us a while to find a campsite that was level enough. ![]() It is a very scenic place but the hills were rolling, and I don't mean from all the overland vehicles. This event was held at the Taylor Ranch in Fletcher, NC. The check in process was really easy and afterwards we went campsite shopping. Our original plan had us getting to the expo around 3:00 on Thursday, but life had other plans and we arrived around 5:30. We purchased the full Overland Experience ticket so we got access to all the classes and camping. I’ll be honest, Mike talked me into it, but I am glad he did. Mike and I bought our tickets as soon as they went on sale for the Overland Expo East.
